Zoos Victoria

Walk with the animals, talk with the animals

The stuff childhood dreams are made of, I was a roving reporter and snoop of all things animal-tastic for six months at Zoos Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. And yes, it was as fun as it sounds. I witnessed a tiger get dental work, koalas that had been rescued from Mallacoota bushfires and the birth of endangered snow leopard cubs.

What I helped with

Telling mega stories

As Production Assistant at Zoos Vic, I helped coordinate the zookeepers, film crews and, no joke, animals schedules to safely and humanely capture content for their TV show Megazoo. There we elephant pedicures, zebra births and an all-important deep-dive into the different types of animal poop to be uncovered - and I was the woman for the job.

Here’s the trailer.

Yes, I went there.

The otters at Melbourne Zoo went fishing for yabbies and the world needed to know. They made it on Channel 7, 9 and 10 on the box and even got in the Herald Sun newspaper. Read the ridiculous article in full below.
